The Toolbox contains all the OTX nodes (activities) to insert into the test sequence in the Workflow Designer by using drag-and-drop (see the handling activities section). The activities in the Toolbox are arranged by the OTX libraries (OTX Core and OTX extensions), in each library the activities are also grouped logically. The activities can be displayed in different view modes. Depending on how much space is available, one of the view modes is advisable. Users can change the view mode by using the "Customize appearance" drop-down list in the header of the Toolbox. There are 4 different view modes as shown below:

The toolbox includes all activities in different views, logically grouped

Besides the OTX Core library and other OTX extension libraries, the Toolbox also contains some special libraries such as the Test Step library, the Diagnostic Database library and the Text Block library. These special libraries do not have activities as the other libraries but they contain some elements or data displayed as nodes. These nodes may be dragged and dropped into the Workflow Designer to create new activities with input data or to update the input data of the existing activities in the Workflow Designer.

The Toolbox is a dockable window which can be moved and pinned in many positions in the OTF. Users can also resize the Toolbox, close and re-open it, or set it to auto-hide. The Toolbox may be divided into 3 main parts as shown below:

  1. Header area
  2. Library Content area
  3. Library Tabs area

In the Header area of the Toolbox, there are the Auto Hide command, Close command and the "Customize appearance" drop-down list.

The Library Content area of the Toolbox will display the content of a library such as all the activities in logical groups or the database in a tree structure. You can move the mouse pointer over the activities (or nodes) and wait Some special libraries as mentioned above have the sub-headers which may have the Expand All command, Collapse All command and Filter text-box ect.

The Library Tabs area contains all the libraries displayed as tabs. Click on a library tab and the content of the library will be displayed in the Library Content area. You can enlarge or shrink the Library Tabs area by dragging the border between the library tabs and the library content upward or downward. Besides, you can customize the Library Tabs by using the commands in the expand menu (click on the button ">>").
